Remove the Mask Unveil the Man

A Poem | A remembrance | An Invitation

This poem began as something private.

A reckoning. A return. An attempt to put words to something that had taken most of my life to understand, the mask I wore wasn't weakness; it was adaptation. And that beneath it, the boy I'd left behind was still there, waiting not to be fixed, but to be met.

It's a poem about the mask we learn to wear early, how it forms, what it costs, and what becomes possible when we finally lay it down. A story of coming home.

You can listen to me read it below, or take it at your own pace in the full poem beneath.

This poem is part of a wider practice, exploring identity, emotional disconnection, and what it means to come home to yourself.

If something in this resonated and you'd like to stay connected, I occasionally share reflections, writing, and offerings.

If you'd like to receive those reflections, you're welcome to leave your email below.

I'll also give you a PDF copy of the poem to keep.
